1st Day: Transfer to domestic airport for flight to Bagdogra. Drive to
Darjeeling.( 4hrs)
Day 2: It is a 26 kilometre drive to Maneybhanjang, at 2134 metres the starting place for our trek on the Singalila Ridge. After an early breakfast, and an interesting drive into the Himalayan foothills, we set
off on the first part of our walk, the four to five hour trek up to Tonglu. It is an unavoidable fact of trekking in the Himalaya that we must get up high to find the best views. The most scenic part of the
Singalila Ridge is at around 3500 metres, and we are starting out at a little above 2000 metres. On this first day, we climb around 1000 metres to the ridgetop settlement of Tonglu. En route, we have tantalising glimpses of Kangchenjunga ahead, as we zig-zag up through the Rhododendrons. There are many Nepalese tea-houses beside the trail, and we stay overnight in a comfortable "trekkers hut." (booking needs to be made in advance) or camp.
Day 3: The start of our trek today is downhill, through the picturesque Nepalese village of Khanyakuta where we take lunch. Then its back to the ridge for the short climb to our camp at Kalpokhari at 3100
metres.Today, we walk for between four and five hours. At this stage of the trip we are walking relatively short days as we have to acclimatise before moving up to Sandakphu.
Day 4: We start the long climb up on to the Singalila Ridge proper. After a pleasant hour's walk with good bird spotting potential it is a further two hours and a steady pull up to Sandakphu. The reward is a remarkable
panoramic view of Kangchenjunga, Makalu, Everest, Lhotse and the other, lesser peaks of Sikkim and eastern Nepal. We stay in a trekkers hut, at Sandakphu (3636m). From camp, there are remarkable sunset and sunrise
views of Everest, Makalu, Chamlang and Kangchenjunga. If anything, the views from the Singalila Ridge are
indeed the most special.
Day 5: Rest Day at Sandakphu.
Day 6: An early start for the short walk to a prominent viewpoint for
the magnificent sunrise and then back to our lodge for breakfast.Today's walk is on one of the most spectacular sections of the Singalila Ridge. Up and down, but never anything too demanding. There are ever-changing views of the snow-capped Himalaya to the north and north west. One of the finest day's walking to be found anywhere in the world. Camp at Phalut 3600m 7 hrs.
Day 7: Leaving Phalut, we are temporarily saying goodbye to the views of Kangchenjunga and the eastern Himalaya, as we descend for 5 hours -another beautiful day of walking through rich forests of Rhododendrons
and Magnolias with great birdlife to our overnight stop at Samading via Gorkey village.
Day 8: Continue the descent through forest for about 5 hrs to the picturesque village of Rimbik with the local inhabitants being mainly Sherpas.
Day 9: Drive to Darjeeling.Arrive by lunch time.Afternoon free to visit the market and shopping.
Day 10: Morning transfer to Bagdogra to arrive in time for flight to Delhi,on arrival transfer to hotel.
