I think, thats the area where it happend ... but i am not shure, i have never been in afganistan

Thank you! That looks like the right one to me also. I tried to search google maps also but it showed me a different Salang more to the west.

The article talked about it being a pass through the Hindu Kush so I was very concerned. But I will be far away from Kabul so this is probably not a major problem for me. I plan on Hiking through Hindu Kush around February.
