I have put useful and relevant information online which was deleted. It wasn't commercial advertising. Quite the opposite: people, including leading academics, volunteered their time to make a very comprehensive document about the Sinai (trekking, places, flora/fauna, dictionary) which is available, along with other beautiful books, absolutely FREE online. Also, there has been no trekking guide to the Sinai what so ever - now there is one and I think people should know about it. Most of all, it is for the benefit of local Bedouin communities who depend on guiding, but also for the international trekking community in search of unexplored places. Again, it is not a commercial venture. Actually I beleive all this info should be under 'Announcements and Hints.'
Although the Sinai is pretty much unknown, it is just as a great trekking destination as any in the broader region from Morocco, through Algeria and Jordan, to Yemen. But can anyone recommend any useful information about trekking in South Sinai?

Dear Zoltan,

thanks for your comment!

if you have link to non commercial information, please put it here without www. and I will make it a "working" link for you. No problem!

Your previous post have been deleted because its non-commercial character wasn't obvious to me.

Dear Harald,

Thanks for the reply. You're probably right, maybe I wasn't clear.

The Sinai is a great trekking country and in many respects very unique - but by and large very little known, despite the fact that the Red Sea coast is a major holiday destination.

If anyone is interested in more than 4x4s, fake Bedouins and reheated hotel meals, as offered by the Sharm el Sheikh hotels, it is difficult to find relevant information.

Some good resources about the region include:

About the town of St. Katherine and the High Mountain Region: st-katherine.net

Rock-climbing around St. Katherine: israelalpine.org/sinai

You can download free several useful and interesting books as pdfs from: discoversinai.net

The pdf titled 'Discover Sinai' lists virtually all the important places in South Sinai with descriptions, maps and lots of images, then there is section on fauna and flora, and finally a dictionary.

Maybe there are still some other good resources out there, these are the ones I know.
