Subject: Regarding changes in TIMS provisions
Dear Members,
Kindly note that Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) would be implemented in a new manner from April 1, 2010. As per the agreement with Nepal Tourism Board, separate TIMS cards would be issued for organized groups trekker and free individual trekkers (FITs). Trekkers travelling through government authorized trekking agencies need to get Blue TIMS card by paying US $10 per person, while trekkers travelling independently have to take Green TIMS card by paying US $20 per person.
If you have old TIMS card in stock, we request you to kindly return it to TAAN Secretariat by 28 March and take new TIMS cards because those cards won’t be applicable after April 1. TAAN would refund the amount of old TIMS cards.
We also request you to not issue old TIMS cards if your groups are embarking on trekking trips on or after April 1. Personnel at check posts can return trekkers that are carrying old TIMS cards.
We request our member agencies and other concerned stakeholders to help TAAN for the effective implementation of the new system.
LG, Carmen
