46 Tibetan demonstrators arrested in the capital
LALITPUR, March 28 - Nepal police arrested at least 46 protestors demonstrating in front of the United Nations headquarters at Pulchowk in the capital on Friday morning.
They have demanded that the UN look into the incidents of China Army manhandling the pro-Tibet protestors during demonstrations in the capital city of People’s Republic of China, Lhasa.
The arrested have been detained at the Lalitpur Police Division, police said.
The traffic in the area had been affected for some time during the incident.
About a dozen pro-Tibet protesters are learnt to have jumped the walls of a building housing the UN offices. Supporters of “Free Tibet” have been demonstrating in the capital and various other cities worldwide since the 49th Tibetan Uprising Day on 10th March at the threshold of the Olympics to be held in Beijing, China in August this year.
