Die ersten Berichte über die Blockade der westlichen District Headquarters scheinen mehr als nur heiße Luft gewesen zu sein. Einschätzungen, Kommentare, Erfahrungsberichte von Ort wären sehr wünschenswert!
Maoists blockade affects Gandaki region

KATHMANDU, March 9 - Maoists blockade in several districts of Gandaki region has affected the normal life of people Tuesday.
Maoists aligned organization Tamuwan National Liberation Front and Madhise National Liberation Front in their statement had declared blockades in various districts of Gandaki region from 8th March to 25th March.
The Maoists blockade in Chitwan, Gorkha, Syangja, Salyan and Parbat districts affected transportations, educational institutions, business and industries today.
According to our correspondent, buses heading from Kathmandu to Narayangadh were blocked at Jugeri of Muglin- Narayangadh Highway.
Similarly, vehicles coming from Western and Eastern regions were stopped at Gaidakot of Nawalparasi and at Manhari of Makwanpur districts respectively.
Hundreds of passengers were left stranded on midway due to Maoists blockades, reports said. (dds)

Der Mugling - Narayangath Highway ist jene Strecke, die nach Süden ins Terai geht! Man kommt also nun nicht mehr auf einfachen Weg nach Chitwan oder nach Bhairawa zur Grenze. Die alte Straße über Daman wird man nehmen müssen!

Gibt es Informationen wie es um die Gegend
um Pokhara aussieht. Kann die Strecke von
Kathmandu nach Pokhara mit dem Touristenbus
befahren werden oder ist auch hier Mugling

Jomson erreicht ?
Unten noch einmal die Meldung von nepalnews vom 4.3.04. Daraus entnehme ich, daß Mustang (District Headquarter: Jomsom) nicht betroffen ist. Man könnte also vermutlich nach Jomsom einfliegen, dort ein bißchen herumlaufen und wieder zurückfliegen. Der Destrikt Manang (district headquarter Chame) ist aufgeführt in der Blockade-Liste.
Da Manang keine Distrikt-Hauptstadt ist, wird es möglicherweise auch nicht blockiert. Möglicherweise aber der Weg dorthin. D.h. man könnte (reine Spekulation!) dort einfliegen. Ist aber akklimatisationstechnisch nicht ganz ohne wegen der Höhe.
In der kantipuronline-Meldung von heute ist nicht die Rede davon, daß die Straße nach Pokhara dicht ist. D.h. für mich, daß sie offen ist. Das kann sich aber möglicherweise von Tag zu Tag ändern.
Ich persönlich glaube, daß die Situation ziemlich im Fluß ist und täglich neu beurteilt werden muß. Ich versuche gerade, gesichertere Informationen zu bekommen und habe eine Reihe von bekannten Reiseveranstaltern durchtelefoniert, aber dabei nur erfahren, daß die zum Teil nicht mal Zeitung lesen und noch nie was von einer Blockade oder auch nur einer Blockadeankündigung gehört haben, obwohl Gruppen von denen in just diese Gegend demnächst aufbrechen. Das Auswärtige Amt weiß auch nichts genaueres, die sagen aber, daß sie gerade überlegen, den Reisehinweis für Nepal mit Bezug auf das Annapurna-Gebiet zu aktualisieren. Es lohnt sich also, in den nächsten zwei, drei Tagen dort nachzulesen.
Gesicherte Info ist jetzt nur, daß es tatsächlich Blockaden gibt und wo die heute waren- die können morgen aber auch wo anders sein. Was wir nicht wissen: Was passiert, wenn es tatsächlich die angekündigte Blockade auf dem Weg nach Chame oder in Besisahar (auch district headquarter) gibt und die Armee findet, daß sie dies keineswegs akzeptieren kann? Sollte dieses Szenario eintreten, möchte ich lieber nicht vor Ort sein. Erzwungene Donations sind das Eine, Kampfgebiete schon etwas sehr anderes.
Man sollte jetzt über das Khumbu als Alternative nachdenken.
Maoists declare blockade in 13 district headquarters
The Maoists have announced blockade in 13 district headquarters of Narayani, Gandaki, Dhoulagiri, Lumbini and Gandaki zones, reports Thursday said.
A Nepal Samacharpatra report said three Maoist-affiliated organizations namely Tamuwan National Liberation Front, Magarat National Liberation Front and Madhesi National Liberation Front have issued a joint statement declaring blockades in the district headquarters of Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Rupandehi, Palpa, Syanja, Kaski, Tananun, Parwat, Lamjung, Gorkha, Gulmi, Myagdi and Manang.
Maoists have said they have blocked human mobility to and from the district headquarters, which, in most of the places, will remain effective from March 8 to 25 while in a few places the blockade will go for an indefinite period.
In Gulmi, the self-style Magarat Autonomous Government declared embargo on Wednesday, restricting people from moving to the district headquarters.
The Maoists, according to report, have made it known that they have adopted a policy to force the government officials, security personnel and representatives of municipalities and district development committees to quit their posts.
The ultras have also threatened to bring the transportation, communication, trade as well as human mobility to a standstill in these districts. They are known to have issued the decree in preparation of what they called “strategic retaliation”. nepalnews.com mbk March 4 04
